Sunshine Stars win South West Pre-Season Tournament

Sunshine Stars Football Club has emerged winner of the maiden South West Pre Season Tournament in Lagos reports
In their last match of the tournament, Sunshine Stars overpowered Remo Stars Football Club 2-1 to make it three wins from three matches, thereby pocketed the maximum 9 points.
The match against Remo was a delight to watch as both teams showed early promises and determination to carry the day.
Sunshine Stars wasted no time before imposing themselves on the game as they move the ball around with ease.
The dominance paid off when new acquisition, Kola Anubi broke the deadlock to put Sunshine in the driving seat, and as if that was not enough, the Akure based team continued to ask several questions while Remo struggled for answers.
Alaba Adeniyi made it 2-0 for Sunshine Stars to end the first half of the exciting encounter.
The second half began with same tempo, but this time, it was the new boys in the NPFL that was trying to redeem their image.
The half afforded coach Kayode Olujohungbe the opportunity to see some players in action as changes were made by him.
Remo Stars were presented a golden opportunity to reduce the score line when Sunshine Stars defender, Kelechi Oghor was shown a red card for a second bookable offence after committing a professional foul, thus giving the numerical advantage to the Sky Blue side.
Remo Stars made good use of the advantage as Francis Nwankwo, found the back of the net to reduce the tally in the closing stages.
Speaking after the match, Coach Kayode Olujohungbe of Sunshine Stars expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“We thank God Almighty for the results, the boys showed lots of commitments and determination,” he told
“We still have lots of work to do to make the team ready for the new season as we know that expectations are high, but with the great encouragement from the management of the team, we shall be ready.”
In his words, Sunshine Stars boss, Prince Dapo Ajibade, dedicated the Pre-Season success to all soccer loving people of the state.
“We are very happy with the standard of play exhibited by the team in all the 3 matches, even though there is still big room for improvement.”
