Rivers Governor, Wike urges Nigeria to bid for 2018 African wrestling Championship





The Governor of Rivers State Chief Nyesom Wike has asked Nigeria Wrestling Federation should bid to host the 2018 Senior African Wrestling Championships in the city of Port Harcourt .

According to the  President of the Nigerian Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali, the body will soon consult the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to submit a bid for the hosting rights of the 2018 Senior Africa Wrestling Championships .

Igali who won gold for Canada in Men’s Freestyle, Lightweight category in 2000 Sydney Olympics also revealed that Governor Wike has also directed  the Ministry of Sports in Rivers State to liaise with the Nigeria Wrestling Federation to host the  Annual Senior National Wrestling Championships.
