Over 90 clubs for WGB/Lagos FA Cup

 

Following recent innovations backed by a steady title sponsorship, the Lagos FA Cup continues to be a huge attraction for both elite and grassroots men and women football clubs with over 90 entries now recorded ahead of the 2017 edition.

The entries consists of 80 male clubs including defending champions, MFM FC which is currently sizzling hot in the NPFL, and 12 women football clubs.

The Ekofootball (LSFA) office has disclosed that the event will kick off on April 3 with a colourful opening ceremony and close with even higher glamour on May 7.

Draws for the 2016/17 WGB/Lagos FA Cup is scheduled to hold this Wednesday at the Lagos SWAN Secretariat inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Chairman of Ekofootball Technical Committee, Dotun Coker, disclosed that the draws will be preceded by a seminar for coaches and administrators of all the participating clubs.

Mr Siji Lagunju, Technical Officer of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to conduct the coaching clinic while the seminar will see Dr. Bukola Bojuwoye delivering paper on application of first aid treatment.

Also, Dele Atoun will deliver a paper on the amendment to the laws of the game while Dotun Coker will address the participants on the rules and regulations of the FA Cup.

Coker stressed the importance of the seminar to the competition and the overall development of football in the state.

“It is a tradition in Lagos State FA to always update our affiliated clubs on the latest development in the game. That is the reason for seminars before any major championship or tournament,” he explained.
