Over twenty-thousand students will participate in the maiden edition of the Heritage bank Lagos State Skoolympics which comes up from November 2nd to 4th, 2016.

The event which is in collaboration with the state’s school board will see secondary school students from age 14 taking part in five sporting events, basketball, athletics, table tennis, swimming and handball.

Rowe Park Yaba will host the handball and basketball events while athletics, swimming and table tennis will take place at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

The organisers revealed that  talents discovered at the tournament will be nurtured and developed to represent Lagos State and Nigeria in international events.

Some of the big wigs that graced the occasion are, athletics legend, Chief Mary Onyali who is the brand Ambassador of the initiative, Special Adviser to the Lagos State, Ayodeji Tinubu among others.

Meanwhile, a three-day sensitisation programme towards Skoolympics will hold in the Lagos- State six educational division starting from tomorrow, Wednesday,October 26 to Friday, October 28,2016. 20161025_124134

Born July 13, 1965, Fred Edoreh hails from Umeh, Isoko South, Delta State. He attended St. John Primary School, Iselegu, Mater Dei Collage Ashaka, St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Asaba for HSC and graduated in English and Literary Studies at Bendel State University, Ekpoma.
