Obaje hit brace as IfeanyiUbah dismiss Remo Stars

Two goals from Godwin Obaje and one from Adou Blaise earned FC IfeanyiUbah an important 3-0 win for FC  in a rescheduled match day 8 game of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against Remo Stars FC on Wednesday evening in Nnewi.

It was a high-tempo start from both sides, with neither creating much in the way of chances.

The Sky Blue Stars had a chance to get to the lead through a free kick by Archibong Obo but goes wide before Chizoba Ndukwe saved a cross from Alberico Da Silva.

Minutes after, FC Ifeanyi Ubah had the chance to go ahead through Ngoma Luamba after Ifeanyi Onuigbo gave him a through pass but he shoots over the bar.

Godwin Obaje had opportunity to capitalise on a defensive error but his strike directly meet Ndukwe in goal for Remo Stars.

Just before half time, Obaje had the brightest chance of the game as his solo shot hits the upright from Da Silva’s cross.

In the early minutes of the second half, Remo Stars Dufegha Eric and Ekene Awazie combined well together to set Asiwaju Opeoluwa on but he shoots directly to Bamba Drissa.

Three minutes after, Obaje gets his first goal of the season from the spot after Ekene Obi was adjourned to handle the ball in the box.

The Sky Blue Stars made an attempt to get an equaliser through Dufegha shortly after the host went ahead but he pushes the ball just way ahead to meet Drissa.

The Anambra Warriors had couple of chances to extend the lead through Medrano and Obaje but they shoot directly to Ndukwe.

In the 63rd minute, Asiwaju had another attempt, he dribbles pass the goalkeeper Drissa but couldn’t get the final pass to Dufegha to make it count.

Bright Onyedikachi had a brilliant chance to extend the lead for the host after replacing Ifeanyi Onuigbo, his effort hit the upright before Ndukwe save.

Adou Blaise got the second goal for FC Ifeanyi Ubah from Da Silva’s free kick after Muhammed Saidu fouled the Brazilian close to the box.

Just seven minutes to the end of the game, Godwin Obaje got his second goal to make it 3-0 in favour of the Anambra Warriors from another free kick.
