In preparation for the forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL) season, Wikki Tourist FC of Bauchi is making moves to offload ten of its players to make room for fresh legs, Sportstalkafrica reports.
Sources close to the club revealed that its management has declared the players “surplus to requirement” and has accordingly placed them on transfer list.
The affected players, Sportstalkafrica gathered, include Lukuman Haruna,
Victor Yakubu, Emenike Onuoha
and Anyanwu Nnameka.
Others are Chukwudi Samuel, Ajoku Chidebere, Emeka Nwabulu, Ismail Bagayan, Ahmed Muhammed and Gideon Gambo.
Wikki who joined the elite league on promotion from the NNL in 2014 enjoyed a good run in 2016 finishing among the top four on the log with a ticket to the continent.
Their fortunes however nosedived with the exit of team handler, Abdu Maikaba who headed south to Akwa United.
All efforts by Coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru who replaced Maikaba and Bala Nikyu who took over from Ganaru following the poor run of the club could only see them struggle to get out of relegation with a fierce fight with Gombe United and they eventually escaped with 53 points to safety on 14th position.
The Bauchi State Government, financiers of the club, promptly sacked its management in a show of dissatisfaction and the dangling axe seems now to have come on the players.
