NPFL rumble: It’s fight to finish between Wikki and MFM

It sure will be a classic rumble in Bauchi, come Sunday when MFM FC goes to Wikki Tourist for their match day 32 engagement in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
At the heart of the clash is the desperation of MFM to pull out out relegation waters while Wikki seeks to shore up its points in its chase for the league title.

MFM FC started its debut season with strong statement of intent to remain in the top class but it has all reduced now to a fight for survival from the drop.

With 37 points on 17th position, the Olukoya Boys has found themselves mired in the battle to retain their place in the elite league following a spate of indifferent performances at the Agege Stadium where it initially proved invincible.

MFM will on Sunday file out against title chasing Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in a match of two sides with opposite aspirations. But, its new signing and former Heartland of Owerri forward, Isah Akor believes it is a match they can pick all three points declaring that they are in Bauchi to wrestle for the three points at stake.

The NPFL newcomers succumbed to a one all draw in their last league match against Warri Wolves Football Club of Delta State at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos on Wednesday courtesy of a 75th minute equalizer from Akor who believes his side can shock their host in Sunday’s tie.

“Sunday’s game will not be an easy one and it will not be different from the ones we have played. We had a great performance in our last away match against Kano Pillars though we lost due to our inability to convert our chances.

“This is another game and another opportunity to correct our past mistakes, they are a title-chasing side thus they will be under pressure to play us and I think we will be taking that as an advantage.

“I’m aware they have not lost at home in recent time and we too have not won a game away from home in the second stanza of the league but we saw what Lobi Stars did to Enugu Rangers some weeks back and we too can do the same to Wikki. As a matter of fact my mates and I have decided to do everything within our reach to avoid defeat no matter how challenging the task may be,” said the experienced goal poacher to the club media.
