NNL: Aregbesola unveils Duke Udi for Osun Utd

State Government of Osun has charged the management and technical crew of Osun United Football Club to instil discipline in the team especially the players ahead of the commencement of the 2016/2017 Nigeria National League.

The State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola stated this while unveiling Ex-international Duke Udi as Chief Coach of Osun United.

Udi was officially unveiled the Chief Coach of Osun United FC (formally Prime FC) by state Chief of Staff, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and club chairman, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi.

Governor Aregbesola who was represented by Oyetola urged the technical crew to select the best players to prosecute the league and urged the team to be appreciative of good gesture by turning in good result.

Ogunjobi said Udi was a fantastic footballer during his playing days and that he played a vital role in the victories recorded by the Shooting Stars in the mid-90s when the club won the league and Challenge Cup.

He said the coach was selected on merit after screening and that, though no one was perfect, the management of the club had made a right choice in his selection.

The new chief coach, Udi, while addressing newsmen said, he was thankful to the state government and management of the club for giving him the opportunity to coach and lead the club.

He however ask for the support of everybody in the state to deliver on the mandate given to him, to qualify the team to the premier league.

“We need everybody’s support to move the club to the elite league so, I need everybody to move with me in the right and same direction.

“I came to this club to make a statement and deliver, I am not promising anything, but I will give my best and I pray my best brings the required results.” he said

Former FIFA and CAF instructor Chief Adegboyega Onigbinde, charged the Udi led crew to be upright in the discharge of their duty and called for the support of all stakeholders to make their job easier.

However, Governor Aregbesola was inducted as the Grand Patron of the club, while Oyetola was made the club patron.
