Nigeria Athletics release Rio Olympics team list

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has released the list of track and field athletes to represent Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with

Nigeria’s fastest sprinters Blessing Okagbare and Seye Ogunlewe topping the pack.

In a statement signed by Olukayode Thomas, head of Media and Communications of the AFN, Okagbare will be competing in the sprints, long jump and the 4x100m relay in Brazil.

Others in the women 100m and 4x100m field are Madu Jennifer, Gloria Asumnu, Uko Peace, Osazuwa Agnes, Sanni Zainab, Francis Cecilia, Khadijat Suleman, and Ekpone Olivia.

In the women 400m and 4x400m are George Patience Okon, Bamgbose Margaret, Omotoso Omolara Grace, George Regina, Ajayi Yinka, Ossai Rita Vivian, Mayungbe Blessing and Sogbesan Ekundayo.

Oluwatobiloba Amusan will be competing in the 100m, Amaka Ogoegbunam in 400m hurdles, Doreen Amata in High Jump, Brume Ese in Long Jump, Okoro Chinwe in Discus, Nwanneka Okwelogu in Shot Put and Uhunoma Osazuwa in Heptathlon.

Besides Ogunlewe, Egwero Ogho-Oghene and Monzavous Edward will be competing in the men’s 100m, Odele Oghenetega and Oduduru Divine in 200m,
Orukpe Eraiyokan in 400m, Anthon Hicks in 110m, Tosin Oke, Ukaoma Miles in 400m, Olamigoke Olumide and Mozia Stephen in Shot Put .

Born July 13, 1965, Fred Edoreh hails from Umeh, Isoko South, Delta State. He attended St. John Primary School, Iselegu, Mater Dei Collage Ashaka, St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Asaba for HSC and graduated in English and Literary Studies at Bendel State University, Ekpoma.
