MFM plot Katsina Utd defeat away

By TUNDE SHAMSUDEEN

Smarting from their exciting display to defeat league title holders and CAF Champions League side, Rangers International, in Lagos, last weekend, MFM FC is pushing their ambition further with a determination to take out Katsina United in their home as they visit the ancient city for the midweek clash of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

MFM handed Rangers a 2-1 defeat last Friday and league top scorer, Stephen Odey, has said their focus is to be in the top bracket of the table and secure a continental slot by the end of the season.

The club management on its part is in sync with the players and has assured to make on necessary provisions to keep the players in high morale.

Part of it is an improvement in their travel arrangement for away games which seeks to relieve the players of the fatigue of long distance travel by road.

In this respect the squad will not do the about 1,300km  journey to Katsina by road.

Sportstalkafrica.com gathered from top officials of the Olukoya Boys after their Friday Night triumph against NPFL at the Soccer Temple, Agege, Lagos that the team will hit Kano by flight and do a short distance by road to Katsina for the Wenesday match day 11 engagement.

“Owing to the tight NPFL fixture schedule, arrangements are in top gear for the team to fly to Kano by an Azman flight from Lagos and from the Pyramid City drive for close to three or less than four hours to Katsina venue for our mid-week game.

“We know that it’s going to be a tough duel against the Changi Boys, so we don’t want fatigue to set into the team as it will be of disadvantage embarking on a long trip to and fro Katsina, then to face Remo Stars in a tough south-west derby on Sunday.

“We plan to introduce some of players who have returned from suspensions or injury for the game, while some of our regular starters will stay behind in Lagos to prepare for the game against Fatai Osho’s Sky Blue Stars.”
