General Manager of the marathon, Yussuf Alli, revealed that most of the foreign and Nigerian elites will arrive on Wednesday while top officials of the IAAF and AIMS will arrive on Thursday.
Among the early birds on Wednesday will be former IAAF World Half Marathon Champion, Godfrey Chirchir Kiprotich, and Kenyan Eliud Matu Weru, graduate of the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology who has been engaged by Sports brand, Nike.

A product of the popular St. Patrick High School, renowned for producing successful distance runners, the organisers said Kiprotich has informed he
will arrive on Wednesday with Ethiopian Airline ahead of the event
Kiprotich grew up running barefoot and alongside his training partner Evans Rutto and they both have achieved many feats on the road.
He has served as pacemaker to Rutto at a number of marathons, including the 2003 Chicago Marathon, which Rutto won as well as the New York City Marathon, the Los Angeles Marathon, Country Music Marathon and the Dubai Marathon.
Inspired by the international enthusiasm for the event, Alli assured that the organisers are putting everything in place to deliver a resoundingly successful event and an environment for athletes to surpass their earlier performances.
“We are now a label race so everything we do is of special interest to the IAAF, the governing body of athletics in the world, and AIMS. Our biggest selling points are our route which is very smooth, and the crowd. world will be looking up to Lagos this weekend.

Starting at 6.30am will give the runners a huge advantage as they would have covered a lot of ground before the sun rises,” Alli said, while also appealing to Lagosians to come out in their thousands to cheer the runners and show the city’s warm hospitality to visitors coming for the race from all ends of the globe.”
