Kogi govt charge team on NNL kick off

Just as Kogi United were getting ready for the curtain raiser of the Nigeria National League (NNL) new season against FC Zamfara this Saturday in Gusau, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has sent words of motivation, charging the boys to go all out determined to record a resounding victory, assuring that the entire citizens of the state are solidly behind them.

Director General, Media and Strategy to the Governor, Honorable Kingsley Femi Fanwo who spoke with the contingent on telephone from Lokoja on behalf of the governor charged them to be good ambassadors of the state and make the citizens proud as they take on FC Zamfara at the Sardauna Memorial Stadium, Gusau to open their campaign to launch unto the top league.

Saying the government has immense confidence in the technical crew of the team led by Coach Ishaya Jatau, he said that the government and people of the state are expecting a good game with positive result.

“We are really pleased with what you are doing and the progress the team is making. We are very pleased with how you’re steering the ship of the team and how the team is getting more and more popular, owing to what you’re doing on the pitch and what the media team has been doing. It’s wonderful and excellent,” begins Hon. Fanwo.

“We are united in agreeing with the fact that the team is our biggest ambassador today, where our stories cannot reach the team is already reaching there, and that is why we want to be behind the team to ensure you always record resounding success

“The over three million Kogites,home and abroad, are solidly behind you. In the stadium tomorrow you may find a scanty crowd supporting, but 3.5 million Kogites are solidly behind you at home. We are praying for you, we are supporting you morally, financially and spiritually and we hope that you will record a resounding victory tomorrow, and if you can win a positive result tomorrow, I want to assure you that I will personally be at the stadium next week with other members of our cabinet to cheer you to victory,” concludes the DG Media and Strategy.

Responding, the Team Manager of the Confluence state club, Ameh Henry commended the DG Media for the calling on behalf of His Excellency and noted that the gesture is the first of its kind since the the clubside was established.

Henry, who was the pioneer Captain of Kogi United, said the call had raised the players’ spirit going to the league opener tomorrow just as he promised an excellent outing.

“One behalf of the team, I want to appreciate you for this call, this is the first time the team will be getting this type of call. This has raised our hope and confidence and I think we will play that match tomorrow as if we are playing at home,” he said.

Captain of Kogi United, Ismail Mayaki joined his team manager to respond to Honorable Fanwo’s morale boosting call saying “by the special grace of God, we are going to record victory tomorrow, your call alone has added to our strength and we want you to be rest assured that we are confident of winning tomorrow’s match. We are very proud of our technical crew and the management, the staff and the players.

“By next week, we will be glad to have you around in our next match at home, and we want use this medium appreciate His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his moral, psychological and financial support. We pray
