Substitute Ifeanyi Onuigbo scored in the last minute to give FC IfeanyiUbah a 3-2 win over hard fighting Elkanemi Warriors Football Club in the NPFL match day 14 clash on Sunday evening.
The game which pitted the warriors from the South East, Anambra Warriors as IfeanyiUbah is nicknamed, against the Borno warriors from the North East at the FC IfeanyiUbah International Stadium, Nnewi, started on a fiery note with the Anambra Warriors on the pressing and keeping the visitors camped on the defensive.
The first chance of the game came in the 4th minute as King Osanga’s glancing header sailed over GoalKeeper George Michael but struck the upright after a delightful cross by Ngoma Luamba as King Osanga, Seka Pascal and Godwin Obaje all had near goal attempts but the defence of Elkanemi kept the scores level.
Prince Aggreh scored the opening goal after beautiful piece of brilliance by Seka, controlling lofted pass from Obaje before riffling a shot that was punched by Goalkeeper Michael to the bar and landed at the mercy of Aggreh to open scoring.
The NPFL Galacticos didn’t relent in their attack and got rewarded with a second goal ten minutes later after a wonderful link-up play between Obaje and Luamba to set up Nwabili who passed to Aggreh for the goal and his second of the game to give FC IfeanyiUbah the advantage heading into the break.
The Second half started on a similar note for the Galacticos as the Anambra Warriors attacked the Maiduguri Warriors in a bid to seal the game but, ElKanemi, got a lifeline as Lucky Erimaya riffled a beautiful drive into the bottom left corner to stun the home crowd and give the visitors a chance heading to the hour mark of the game.
And the comeback was complete in the 82nd minute of the game when Matthias Samuel crossed for Ibrahim Babangida timed his run well to head in and secure the leveller for the Maiduguri Warriors.
But the visitors were undone as Osanga was fouled in the last moments of the game and Ifeanyi Onuigbo who came in for two goal hero Aggreh calmly converted from 12 yards to secure the three points for the Anambra Warriors in a topsy turvy game.
