High expectations herald Zenith Delta Principals Cup

Following the resounding success of the first edition of the Zenith Bank Delta Principals Cup football completion for secondary schools, expectations are high on the second edition but organisers say they are poised to deliver on all counts.

The assurance was contained in an address to the press by Chief Consultant on the event and CEO of Hideaplus Ltd, Mr Tony Pemu, ahead of the kick off of the event billed for November 1 at St Patrick’s College, Asaba.

Thanking the sponsors, Zenith Bank and the Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, for keeping faith on the project, Pemu said the second edition will surely be better.

“The expectations are high and we are prepared to deliver on the vision of the Zenith Bank Delta Principal’s Cup which is to discover and nurture budding talents,” Pemu assured.

“All award recipients (on the first edition) have received their prizes either in cash or kind as the case demanded. Our plans are on top gear. The Referees council and other key personnel are all set to give Delta and the nation at large a befitting game.
“We have brought several innovations that were not in the last games such as branded Jerseys, standard football kits etc. All these to upscale our game and benchmark international best practices. We have also tightened our procedure on verification of players. I can assure us that this edition will be better in all ramifications.”

Activities for the season 2 of the Zenith Bank Delta Principals Cup commenced with the inauguration of the Local Organising Committee by the Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Chiedu Ebie, earlier in the year.

The zonal preliminaries will commence across the state after the official opening ceremony on November 1 with the finals scheduled for February 2018 at the Ozoro Polytechnic Stadium.
