FIBA AFRICA CHAMPIONS CUP: Pillars defeat Nzui Manto




Kano Pillars basketball club bounced back from their opening day defeat with a victory over Nzui Manto in the African Club Champions Cup holding in Cairo Egypt.

The Nigerian champions beat tournament debutant, Nzui 75-86 points in the group A game played today.

Pillars lost the first quarter 17-21 points, but increased their tempo in the second quarter winning 26 – 8 points.

They also won the third quarter 22-24 points but lost the fourth quarter 24-19 points.

Abdul Yahaya was the key player for the Pillars, scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists while Etienne Tametong Kalume’s 22 points failed to save the Cameroonian Club who lost their three straight games.

The Kano State club who was humiliated by Tunisian Champions, Club Africain 47-87 points in the first game is third on the table with 3 points, behind leaders El Ahly, and second place Club Africain.
