FIBA AFRICA CHAMPIONS CUP: Kano Pillars stun Agosto

Kano Pillars pulled up a brilliant performance on Sunday, December 11, 2016 to record their second victory in the ongoing  FIBA African Champions Cup in Cairo, Egypt.

The Nigerian Champions stunned their Angolan opponents, Clube Desportivo de Agosto 83-79 points.

Having lost one game each, the two giants came into the contest like predators.

Agosto who hold the tournament’s record of most trophies  won drew the first blood w kano-pillars-bb-jpg5 inning the first quarter 29-15 points

In a bid to avoid second defeat in the tournament, Pillars responded in the second quarter taking it by 23-14 points.

The grueling contest continued when the third quarter resumed, both sides refused to shift ground, and the game ended in stalemate 24-24 points.

In the fourth and the deciding quarter, Kano Pillars took the fight to Agosto, winning it 21-12 points.

Abubakar Usman was the main man for the Nigerian Champions recording 23 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals while Islando Manuel scored 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists for De Agosto.

In other result, Tunisian Champions, Club Africain struggled to beat Cameroon’s Nzui Manto 7-79 points.

Kano Pillars remain third on the group A table with kano-pillars-bb-jpg4 5 points.

Club Africain who overwhelmed Pillars in the first game is second with 5 points.

Host El Ahly top the table  with 6 points.

Action continues tomorrow, Monday December 12 with Kano Pillars taking on El Ahly 7:15 pm Nigerian time.
