Desert Stars pull out of NNL super 4 , to clash El- Kanemi

El Kanemi Warriors will battle it out with Yobe Desert Stars on Saturday in Maiduguri in the first leg of a two-legged affair after the latter pulled out of the Nigeria National League Super Four holding in Lagos from January 7 to 9.

The newly-promoted Nigerian top-flight side were billed to face Kwara United, Heartland and Go Round FC during in the tournament aimed at determining the overall winners of the second division but lack of funds changed their plans.

“We are not going for the NNL Super Four. We are however going to go ahead with our friendly match with El Kanemi Warriors. They will host us first on Saturday before we play the second leg in Damaturu on Monday,” Abdulmalik told Goal.

“I knew it would be difficult for us to go because of the challenge we are having with funds. We shall, however, face El Kanemi Warriors because Maiduguri is less than an hour away.

“We hope both games will test our readiness for the start of the season.”

Yobe Desert Stars will travel to Nnewi to take on FC IfeanyiUbah in their opening match of the 2017-18 season while El Kanemi Warriors play against Rivers United in Port Harcourt also on January 14.
