His Excellency, Ambassador Steve Davies Ughah, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia, Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, in company with a delegation of about 150 comprising the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Lawan Bukar Goni and member Tajudeen Abbas, board members of the NFF including 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi, sports journalists and accredited Nigerian fans stormed the city of Kaliningrad for the Super Eagles crucial opening encounter against Croatia in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The delegation departed St Petersburg, the base of Nigerian support team for Kaliningrad aboard a chattered URAL Airline flight.
The team which departed St Peterburg at about 2.30pm arrived the Kaliningrad Airport at about 4pm ahead of the game scheduled for 9pm.
They were received by 2nd Vice President Shehu Dikko who took the dignitaries to the Super Eagles base while others in the delegation headed straight to the stadium.
Already, the city of Kaliningrad is in a frenzy in expectation of a match many are describing as a cracker.
Nigeria and Croatia take their turn to test the turf after their counterparts Argentina and Iran opened proceedings in Group D with a 1-1 draw.
The result presents Nigeria a great chance to take the group’s front seat with a possible win over Croatia to secure advantage over all in qualifying from the group.
