Aiteo plans big for African footballers, fans

Nigeria’s foremost energy solutions company, Aiteo Group, has said it is investing in Africa’s continental football with a commitment to boosting the profile of African footballers globally, inspiring youngsters to aspire to the pinnacle of footballing their career and enhancing fans enjoyment of the game.

Executive Vice-President of Aiteo Group, Mr Benedict Peters, made the declaration at the group’s take over of the sponsorship of the annual CAF Footballer of the Year Awards by which the event will now be known as Aiteo CAF Awards.

“This sponsorship shows that there is a clear momentum behind Aiteo’s involvement in the game. Buoyed by the success of our corporate social commitment in Nigeria that has resulted in our emergence as the first African nation to qualify for the World Cup, we are encouraged to advance our investment in the game to a continental level. Our aim is to bolster the profile of African players globally and encourage budding talents to put in their best,” Peters said.

“CAF Awards shares our values in relation to creating opportunities, healthy competition and recognition for hard work. We plan on using this partnership to truly enrich the fan experience for millions of Africans.”

Aiteo made a pleasant surprise entry into football as Optimum Partner of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), helping the football family to achieve financial balance for the management of the national teams, leading especially to the smooth qualification of the Super Eagles to the Russia 2018 World Cup above current AFCON champions, Cameroon, and multiple title winners, Algeria and Zambia. The company has also helped, through its sponsorship, to revive the Nigeria FA (Challenge, Federation) Cup which is now known as Aiteo Cup.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has described the the partnership with Aiteo as a statement of corporate confidence in the continental body and its value system.

“We are very glad to welcome Aiteo on board this partnership”, Ahmad enthused.

“Aiteo is distinguished for its commitment to excellence and this sponsorship is a demonstration of its confidence in CAF’s reward value proposition as a veritable platform for brand extension across Africa.”

The historic partnership was consummated in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 15 with the CAF President, vice presidents and members of the CAF Emergency Committee, including the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, in attendance, while Aiteo was represented by its Group Executive Director (Legal), Andrew Onyearu, and Senior Vice President, (Commercial and Gas), Victor Okoronkwo.
