Aiteo Cup thriller: Oluehi stuns fans as Rivers Angels deny Akwa double joy

Rivers Angels FC goalkeeper, Tochi Oluehi, proved to be a master act at the finals of the women category of the Aiteo (FA) Cup, stopping three penalties in a row in a shoot out to ensure victory for her side against hard fighting Ibom Angels of Uyo.

With scores standing at 1-1 after regulation time at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, on Wednesday evening, it was the turn of the goal keepers to show their stuff and Oluehi made sure that Ibom Angels did not get further bite as she followed well and caught three penalties.

A victory for the Uyo side would have meant a clean sweep of the Aiteo Cup by the male and female football teams of Akwa Ibom State.

Their male counterparts had on Sunday, October 15, won the Aiteo Cup also be penalties over Niger Tornadoes of Minna in a pulsating display of hard grit football with such wonderful ambience at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos.

By their victory, Rivers Angels goes home with N10m while Ibom has N5m courtesy of the sponsor, Aiteo Energy Resources.

By the same token, Akwa United FC had N25m and a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup while the male runners up, Tornadoes had N10m.

The Aiteo Cup, renamed from the Challenge, FA and Federation Cup, was repackaged with greater verve and more entertainment following Aiteo’s sponsorship and partnership deal with the Nigeria Football Federation.
