2017 FIFA BEACH WORLD CUP: Abu, Okemiri call for early preparation

Super Sand Eagles Players Azeez  Abu and  Ogbonanya Okemiri have revealed that their focus is on the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which comes up in Bahamas in 2017.

The players who were dissapointed with their final loss to Senegal said they will work on their deficiencies ahead of

“its so unfortunate after getting to this stage we are loosing to Senegal,we really understand that we really understand that we  cant win all the time so we just need to back to our drawing board and prepare for the world cup above all it was a fine game and we have learnt our lessons” said Abu.

Okemiri who expressed his excitement with the world cup ticket has this to say”we have to go back  cause we have some errors, we had tough training for this competition, so we have to talk to ourselves, so we have to start early preparation.

it will be recalled that on Sunday night, December 18, 2016, Nigeria lost 8-4 to Senegal after twice coming from goals down to draw to level with Senegal and even took a lead.

The Senegalese scored first before captain Isiaka Olawale equalised to make it one all.

The visitors took the lead again few minutes after but Nigeria pegged back to end the first period 3-3.

Senegal was at it again when the second period resumed,adding another goal to make it 4-3 Ogodo scored an equaliser for the Sand Eagles.

in the deciding Period, Senegal showed why they are the tournament’s African best, scoring four goals and refused to conceed to end the game 8-4 and won their fourth continental title against Nigeria’s two.

Emeka Ogbonna was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as Senegal’s Al Seyni Ndiaye was given Best Goalkeeper award.

The bronze medal went to Egypt who beat Morocco four goals to one.
