All eyes will be on Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri who will be aiming to become the second player after China’s Ma Long in the world to be named the ITTF Star Player of year for the second time.

The ITTF Star Awards, which is in its fourth edition, will celebrate the world’s best table tennis players’ achievements in 2016, in a colourful event at  Sheraton Hotel in Doha, Qatar on Thursday December 8.

Quadri, winner in 2014 will be competing against Olympic and World Champion, China’s Ma Long and compatriot – Fan Zhendong as well as Japan’s Jun Mizutani for the star prize.

The winners of the various categories of the 2016 ITTF Star Awards will be unveiled through the result of fans’ voting combined with the judges outcome by an expert panel made up of selected Table Tennis players and the media.

Born July 13, 1965, Fred Edoreh hails from Umeh, Isoko South, Delta State. He attended St. John Primary School, Iselegu, Mater Dei Collage Ashaka, St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Asaba for HSC and graduated in English and Literary Studies at Bendel State University, Ekpoma.
He went into journalism in 1990 with Newbreed Magazine and later crossed over to television production with Ultimate Sports and Soccerworld on the Nigeria Televsion Authority.
